With Veterans Day on Thursday, we're kicking off Week II of our Salute to Service blog series, featuring Visionaries whose personal experiences inspired them to join the United States military. Today, Lieutenant Colonel Brian Kitching shares his Q&A and insight.

For the fourth installment of our Salute to Service blog series, we asked Visionary Carlton Shelley II to share a little bit about the lessons of September 11 and his journey in the military. 

Today's installment of the Visionaries in Service blog series features a Q&A with Joe Quinn, Founder and CEO of Feltman's of Coney Island. Joe talks about his military service and the impact of losing his brother, Jimmy, in the attacks. 

Our Salute to Service series - paying tribute to Visionaries whose paths led them to military service - continues with Pat Tillman Foundation Scholar Ashley Nicolas. Currently an assistant district attorney, Ashley answers a few questions here about 9/11 and the role it played in shaping her journey. 

Ahead of Veterans Day and Salute to Service, we're paying tribute to members of our Visionary Network whose paths led them to the United States military. In this series, they share their unique perspective on the relationship between the 9/11 attacks and military service - and lessons learned from both.  

More than 400 NYPD recruits paid tribute this morning at the Memorial, honoring the 23 members of the police department who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. 

The tremendous outpouring of love and support we saw from around the globe on September 11 underscored the fact that even in the face of unfathomable adversity, our capacity for hope and resilience will unite and carry us through. Today we're looking at highlights from the milestone anniversary. 

The National Quilt Museum in Paducah, KY, hosts an exhibit of commemorative quilts from our collection, on display through November 2. Each tells its own piece of the overarching 9/11 story; together, they serve as essential "ambassadors" from New York to the world as we mark 20 years since the attacks. 

Nominations are open now through Sunday for the inaugural America250 Awards, which this year will recognize individuals who embody and represent the strength and bravery that came to define 9/11 - and the spirit of the nation as a whole.
