The Department of Homeland Security was created in the wake of 9/11 with a sweeping mandate to keep America safe. Made up of 22 federal agencies, the department now oversees issues ranging from terrorism to natural disasters to immigration. Former Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano discusses her new book, How Safe Are We?: Homeland Security Since 9/11, and offers insights into the future of the department.
