Windows on the World
A paper sculpture built for the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. The piece places the viewer inside the dry reflecting pools of the National September 11 Memorial, looking up through the footprint of the North Tower toward the rebuilt skyline beyond. Its proportions come from the actual site plan; the vantage point is invented. The work takes its title from the restaurant that once sat atop the North Tower, where the artist worked as a design intern the summer before the towers fell. It's less a depiction of that day than of what followed — a permanent shift in how the world is seen.
