Despite the years, lives, and billions of dollars spent fighting terrorist organizations, the terror threat persists. Have we made any progress at all in reducing the appeal of extreme ideas? In her book How We Win: How Cutting-Edge Entrepreneurs, Political Visionaries, Enlightened Business Leaders, and Social Media Mavens Can Defeat the Extremist Threat, Farah Pandith draws upon her high-level experience on the National Security Council, at the State Department, and on the Homeland Security Advisory Council to make the case that we have the resources and expertise but need a better strategy to stop the spread of extremism into local communities and to inoculate young people against extremist ideology. She discusses her book with Gideon Rose, editor of Foreign Affairs.
