The Middle East is in a period of radical transformation and shifting power dynamics in the wake of the Israel-Hamas war. Bernard Haykel, Professor of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University, returns to the 9/11 Memorial Museum in conversation with Museum Director Clifford Chanin to disentangle the latest turns in the region. From proxy conflicts in Syria, Yemen, and Iraq, to the fall of the Assad regime in Syria and the recent ceasefire and hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas, Haykel outlines the implications of these ongoing developments in the Middle East and the challenges for American policy ahead.
