Memorial and Museum Named Official Charity Partner in Popular Relay Race
A popular relay race offering competitors the chance to secure a $10,000 donation for their favorite charity comes to New York City for the first time.
The Bloomberg Square Mile Relay is April 21 and will feature teams from leading financial institutions, competing to earn the donation for the charity of their choice, according to the relay’s website.
The National September 11 Memorial & Museum was named the race’s official charity partner. The museum has a 5K Run/Walk event open to all on April 24.
For the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay, corporate teams consisting of 10 runners will follow a mile course through the historic Financial District. Since launching in London in 2007, the popular race series has expanded to other cities around the world, including Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and Sydney.
"We're excited to bring this popular race to our home city of New York. The race embodies the importance of speed, team work, and giving back -- three values that we celebrate at Bloomberg," said Michael R. Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg L.P. and chair of the memorial and museum. "It will be great to see so many of our customers, employees and industry friends running alongside each other for so many good causes, including the National September 11 Memorial & Museum."
